Congregation Shirat Ha Yam organizes weekly kabbalat Friday Shabbat Services at 6:30 pm unless otherwise noted. All are welcome in peace. Saturday Study Sessions are held at 9:30 am for “schmooze”, 10:00 – 11:00 am for study.

Leonard Greenberg Memorial Scholar in Residence Weekend

August 15 - August 16

Dr. Stein will lead Study Sessions on Saturday — Was there a Jewish State in 1939? What do the sources tell us? — and on Sunday — Why the June 1967 war, and why it remains unfinished. Examining the continuing impact of the war on Jewish, Israeli and regional history. Preregistration required.

Kenneth W. Stein is the Professor of Contemporary Middle Eastern History, Political Science and Israeli Studies at Emory University. Dr. Stein will address his relationship with President Jimmy Carter with whom he worked for 8 years, what he learned about Carter and his attitude toward Israel, as well as how Carter managed the negotiating process for the peace deal between Israel and Egypt from 1977 to 1979.
