Rabbi Gary Bretton-Granatoor will lead a discussion on “How We Read the Constitution and the Bible: The Flaw of Originalism” Constitutional Originalism, as advanced by Scalia and Thomas, is problematic. The same issues occur when one approaches the Bible from a “fundamentalist” perspective. We will look at specific texts and see how these theories distort our understanding of essential texts.
