A Journey Through Jewish Rome: From the Forum to the Ghetto
March 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
On Sunday, March 14, Jeff Jackson Travel, in partnership with Imago Artis Travel, will present an immersive virtual travel event exclusively for Congregation Shirat HaYam. We will virtually travel with leading guides and historians — via live broadcast — will trace the history of Rome’s Jewish community in a period that spans over 2,000 years. From the Forum, we’ll meet our guide in the Rione Sant’Angelo, a quiet neighborhood hidden in the heart of the city. At each corner of our walk through the Jewish district, we will see how despite centuries of persecution and restrictions on daily life, the Jewish culture and community here thrived, becoming an important part of both Rome’s past and its present.
