Congregation Shirat HaYam is saddened to share that Maureen Blitman passed away on January 26. Maureen was a founding member of Congregation Shirat HaYam and served on its board. She and her late husband, Howard, were dedicated to the community from its very beginning. Maureen loved attending services, engaging with guest speakers, and supporting the congregation in many ways. She also took great joy in tutoring B’nai mitzvah students, sharing her knowledge and love for Jewish tradition.
Her passion for Jewish music and learning led her to study to become a cantor, a journey that brought her great fulfillment. Her warmth, wisdom, and commitment to the congregation will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Barbara, Lee, and Robin Winter, and her six beloved grandchildren.
