Virtual Tour of Eldridge Street Synagogue

Opened in 1887, the Eldridge Street Synagogue was the first great house of worship built by Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. The Synagogue flourished for fifty years as the center of the most densely populated Jewish community on the planet. Today it is the only remaining marker of the great wave of Jewish migration to the Lower East Side of New York City. Our tour will tell the story of Jewish immigrant life, including the synagogue’s architecture, historic preservation, and cultural life.

The virtual tour will be led by one of the Eldridge Street Museum’s docents, and will include a presentation followed by a discussion.
